I was really sick of taking all my admin home to do at the end of each day. My wife was complaining that I wasn’t spending enough time with the kids, because there always seemed to be so much paperwork to do at night and on the weekends. Every day I was driving between the sites my team was working on, and there was never anywhere I could get my laptop out and get through the admin work in the little gaps of time that I had between meetings. I realised how much time I was wasting waiting between meetings.

The car desk has changed all that. I’m not working off the car bonnet anymore, and I don’t need to take my admin work home as I get through it during the day. If I have half an hour to wait before a meeting, I can use my car desk to do my paperwork and knock it over before I get home. I’m back to tucking the kids in at night and going fishing on the weekends instead of catching up on paperwork.
